  35. Peter Tattam's one is available from archives in Europe listed below.

  161. To answer your routing question:  you need to define a default 
  162. gateway in Custom.  This is our routers way of defining a default 
  163. route.  If you dont set this then there is no way to know where to 
  164. send a packet that arrives and is not destined for a local network.  
  165. In the absence of any information we send packets out the serial 
  166. interface because we assume that if you are dialed in somewhere then 
  167. there is probably a router at the other end that will know what do 
  168. with the packet and your dial-up connection is probably going to the 
  169. Internet while you ethernet is local.

  171. To answer your second question:  when you create a serial interface 
  172. you can set it up to be a direct connection by setting modem to none 
  173. in setup/modem area of Custom.
